One of the most persistent problems of our times is water pollution. It has already affected millions of aquatic as well as terrestrial lives till now and will continue to do so if some permanent and feasible solutions are not worked out and applied.
Some of the points listed below can provide some solution to this phenomenon.
Encouraging Improvised Agricultural Methods - Major part of the water pollution problem originates from the use and abuse of farming practices all over the world. Using smart methods like, no till planting, bio-dynamic planting and settling ponds, this problem can be handled.
Improving Sewage System - The sewage disposal into the water bodies is also another cause or worry for the water life. The wastes from the sewage plants contain both soluble and insoluble particles. If at least the insoluble particles can be removed from the wastes before disposing them off to the water system, it can cut down a part of the problem.
Cutting Down on Deforestation - Trees prove to be a natural sponge for soaking up the rains when they come down, holding up and then filtering the water before letting it run off to the nearest water stream or river. This prevents over sedimentation of the rivers and lakes when the water runs into them, unstopped, carrying all the soil erosion it can on the way.
Stopping Coastal Development - Since coasts and sea beaches are a major attraction among the tourists, in the United States alone, above 20,000 acres of the natural coastlines are devoted to development of tourism- building up resorts and villages, etc. This causes unnecessary pollution in the beaches and its water as humans dump their wastes out in the open after finishing with their recreations. These wastes, when carried off by the water cause serious implications to the marine world.
