Noise pollution can be prevented in several ways. Technology has enabled us to make sound proof cabins, sound proof houses and sound proof cafes that do not let the external voice come in and does not allows the internal voice to go out. These methods of prevention against noise pollution are costly and sometimes are not up to the standards. Only rich people and big companies are able to afford these types of arrangements. A small error in construction may ruin the complete set up resulting in wastage of hard work, money and time.
In spite of spending money and taking efforts to maintain these set ups every individual should understand his/her responsibility towards society. You can reduce noise pollution by taking care of a few day-to-day activities. Do not blow horns in school, college campuses and near hospitals while driving. Reduce the sound levels if you are listening to music on radio or television or while driving. If needed, use headphones to play loud music, though it is not recommended because it is hazardous for health. Try to avoid firecrackers as they are rich source of noise as well as air pollution.
Try to maintain your vehicles because it is observed that less maintained vehicles and motors produce more sound than the maintained ones. If you are in an environment which is plagued with loud noises, wear ear plugs and suggest others to wear the same in order to avoid hearing loss. If you are traveling a short distance, use bicycle or take a brisk walk that will lessen the noise as well as air pollution, and will keep your heart healthy. If you are listening music at home, turn down the volume of your music system or close doors and windows so others do not get disturb. If you see noise limits exceeding in your vicinity, call up the cops take control on the culprits.
