Deserts are one of the extreme habitations in the world. The days can get really hot and the nights become intensely cold. Scarcity of food and water makes survival tough. Nomads or deserts people have adapted to the climatic conditions and managed to live successfully for millenniums now. These nomads are generally hunter-gatherers, pastoralists or traders. They move from one place to the other in search of food and water. They move about in small groups with their livestock. They live together in tribes and have portable houses or huts.

If you travel across Australia, you would come across Aborigines, the natives of the continent. These nomads are hunter-gatherers. They eat plants and animals found in the area. The women collect more than 50 percent of the foodstuffs and the men move around carrying the majority of their housing equipments. Singing, dancing and story telling is common among these tribes.

In the Saharan deserts, you would come across the Tuareg tribes. They are tall, fair skinned and skilled artisans. They are traders and pastoralists by profession. A majority of them are practitioners of Islam. They travel long distances to look for food and water. Bedouins are also found in the region. There are nearly ten million Bedouins found throughout the Saharan deserts. These native Arabs build tents near oasis. They cultivate crops and are agriculturists by profession.

The Native Americans found in North America are believed to be Mongol in origin. Farming is their main profession. They are also skilled hunters. Deer, antelopes and buffalos found in the region is their main dietary source. They also feed on seeds, leaves and other plants.
